This is one of the weirdest couple of verses that I’ve found in scripture. Zipporah has a brief dramatic appearance, and we never hear from her again. And yet God included it.
lyrics
You’re a bridegroom of blood to me
It’s a fine mess now can’t you see
Just how everything changed when you took hold of me
You’re a blood-stained groom to me
I saw how you came along
Showing who’s boss, and who’s wrong
Playin’ the hero like I needed you
Thinkin’ I’d sing you a song
Water to wash and to slake
Giving out bread for my sake
Thru all the wastelands you had what I’d need
And promise of wine while I wait
Cut off my heart from the world
Cut up the world of this girl
Taking the blood you knew I’d never give
To place in my hands such a pearl
